Sam Marsh

Staff Coach

Sam brings over 15 years of coaching experience to Michigan Development Academy, with a background spanning multiple levels of youth soccer. He has served as Head Coach at Nationals, leading the 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019 Boys programs, and as Director of Coaching at Farmington Soccer Club. A decade of playing experience through high school soccer gives him a genuine understanding of the game from both sides.

Sam holds a USSF C License and an FA Level 1 Coaching License. His coaching philosophy centers on the continuous improvement and long-term development of every player. He creates an environment built on confidence, hard work, and a genuine passion for the game — tailoring his approach to the unique needs of players at each stage of their development. At younger ages, he places particular emphasis on technical foundations, building the skills and mindset that prepare players for higher levels of competition as they progress.

Joining MDA from Nationals, Sam is excited to be part of a club whose player-centered vision and commitment to individual development align closely with his own values. His goal is simple: help every player reach their full potential, on and off the field.

When he's not on the pitch, you'll find Sam on the golf course or ticking off bucket-list stadiums — Camp Nou, Wembley, the Emirates, Old Trafford, and Stamford Bridge among them. His club of choice is Ipswich Town FC.
